Thirteen have been attributed to Paul, although some are clearly not genuine, having been written by other Christians after his death. Of the thirteen Pauline epistles, seven are regarded as having been written by the Apostle Paul. These are Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Philemon, Galatians, Philippians and 1 Thessalonians.
A.Q. Morton believes that Philippians and 1 Thessalonians are not genuine. There is also some further evidence that Philippians and 1 Thessalonians may not have been written by Paul, but this is not a majority view. Thus the five epistles that pass these more stringent tests are: Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Philemon and Galatians.
Five epistles have been shown by computer analysis to contain exactly the same writing or dictation style and are undoubtedly the work of St Paul: Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Philemon and Galatians. Almost all scholars also believe that the apostle Paul was the author of Philippiansand 1 Thessalonians.
On the other hand, most New Testament scholars say that 2 Thessalonians, Ephesians, Colossians, 1Timothy, 2 Timothy, and Titus were written by anonymous authors, in Paul's name but long after Paul's death, with a near-consensus that 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, and Titus were actually written in the second century.
