David Cameron is the leader of the Conservative Party. In May 2010 the UK General Election resulted in a "hung parliament" where no one party had an overall majority. This led to the Conservative Party negotiating with the Liberal Democrats (a rival Party) to form a Coalition and create a majority. Although the Conservative Party did not receive enough votes to provide them with a majority by themselves, they did receive the largest percentage of votes out of all the Parties. Thus, David Cameron is the Prime Minister.
Up until recently it was Gordon Brown of the Labour Party. There was a general election on May 6th and David Cameron (Conservative) became the Prime Minister of a coalition government on the 12th May.
