What would you like to do?
When the appendix is removed it is usually due to appendicitis. The doctor will recommend that you do not lift heavy objects for 6 weeks, and not allow the stitches to get wet.

Answer If you are still under your doctors care it would be best to ask your doctor or call his office. ANSWER i had my appendix out about a month ago and am …not allowed to do physical activities for a month
This will take a very common operation, its what we call an "Appendectomy". You will need a General sugreon and a Anesthesiologist. There are two ways this procedure is done. …The perferred method is done laproscopicly, meaning using a camera with a minimal incision site. The other way is "Open" meaing the incision site is much larger about 12 inches in your right lower abdomen. An open appendectomy is only done when the surgeon is not sure the appendix is the problem of cause. This way they can look and feel around for other causes for your symptoms.
Recovery times vary from person to person rangeing anywhere from a couple days to up to three weeks.
about a week if you had the laparoscopic one.
I had my appendix removed 10 days ago now. When i asked the doctor if i can drive, he had a little think about and said: "well, how much do you love your car? How would you …feel if you crashed it." Obviously, you would be upset for smashing up your car. He then said "if the car in front of your breaks, do you feel cofident that you will be able to do an emergancy stop?" I said no, not yet, so he said don't drive yet then. I went to the doctors today, told them i had finnshed my tablets, they said i didn't need anymore, blar de blar. So i asked, once again, if i could start driving. And she aked: "do you feel like you could do all your manoeuvres, in a safe, sensible mannor?" This time, i said yes, so, she said, well, maybe you can start to drive again. So 10 downs down the line, from having my appendix removed, i am finally starting to get back in the car, obviously i wont be doing many miles, just, A to B trips for now, until, the "aching" pain has gone. So my answer to your question is, YES, you can drive after, but, leave it, for 10-14 days, as we don't want to rush into things and damage our insides even more now do we! (obviously everyone is different, so, people heal different, and you may feel it might take longer to start doing your normal things again, this is only a guideline from someone with no knowledge really in Appendicectomy, only from what i have experianced for myself) Hope it's helped, Tom.
Yes. Because tissue can get weak from chronic or acute infection (called friable tissue because it is easily broken) and it is much more easily damaged even during careful han…ding in surgery when in that condition. The appendix bursting has more to do with how long the appendicitis has been untreated than due to anything done in the operating room. It is not uncommon for the appendix to be removed in pieces. Sometimes the appendix has burst prior to surgery. Depending on how long ago it ruptured, the body may have created an abscess that surrounds and walls off the infection. In the operating room during surgery the appendix has to be grasped and moved around in order to remove it. This can cause the abscessed appendix to be punctured or burst again which can create peritonitis, an infection of the lining of the abdominal cavity.
Bout 2 months realistically! Did with my op!
can i travel overseas after being in the hospital with a perforated appendix. they will take my appendix out in 13 weeks
It depends on how soon after you get it removed. You would just want to be careful of your stitches. But it should be fine.
The doctors would be most carefull not to interfere with the baby in the process. There is always a chance of something going wrong though, as surgery stresses the body. I do… not think the chances of having a miscarriage due to removal of appendix is large.
In most people, the appendix never causes problems and never needs to be removed. If it becomes severely infected, it should be removed.
After a sufficient pause (ex. one month), yes.
A person may have to have their appendix removed if it becomes infected. If the appendix ruptures, the infection can spread throughout the body and cause major problems.
Appendix is vestigial organ. That means it is useless organ in human being. You can safely and easily remove the same. Acute appendicitis is very painful condition. Secondly i…t can kill you if not treated properly.
How long do you have to wait to do exercise after having your appendix removed. Not strenuous just a gentle jog.?
The normal wait time after an appendectomy before exercise is one to two weeks.
