It doesn't matter. I charge mine with it off, and it then comes on once it is charging. It doesn't matter though. Sometimes it'll be on and it never hurts anything.
You should leave it off, if leave it on it will not charge.

My MP3 player works well.
no and no u cant i do it all the time!:]
Well I have a Sony MP4 player and previously i had the Sony stick MP3 Player. Its fairly simple to charge. Just plug it into the USB drive and it automatically starts charging. Whether with USB cable or direct connection the charging is done regardless of driver installations or any other softwares. If its not charging upon plugging onto your computer then the most likely issue is that your computer is not recognizing your MP3 player as an MTP device. This problem even i had faced, this is caused as some how your PC manages to misplace the MTP drivers. I am certain that if you plug in your MP3 to any other PC it should charge on its own. Hope the information helps.
When you plug your player in using the USB cable, your computer should recognize the device immediately.
limewire 5.1.4
Using Windows Media Player Sync option this can be done through the computer.
The Microsoft zune is a pretty cool mp3 player?
i have a GoGear Vibe, too, it's simple: you just plug one end of the USB cable into your GoGear Vibe and and the other end into a computer that is on and when it is done charging it should say "done charging" on the screen of the mp3 player :)
find it.
I think you should be polite andsay "hello craig" to your mp3 player
