Yes J.K. Rowling did write Deathly Hallows. She wote all seven of the Harry Potter books along with Tales of Beetle the Bard, Quidditch Throught the Ages, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Long Live Harry Potter.

Answer: Because the series of seven books would have been incomplete without the final book.

Three brothers wanted to cross a river, so they made a bridge with their wands, but Death felt cheated because people usually drowned crossing that river, so he gave them whatever they wanted. Each of the three men got what he wanted: the Elder Wand (the strongest wand in the world), a stone (to imperfectly revive the dead), and the Invisibility Cloak (providing invisibility and perfect defense against all magic; it can only be seen through by Mad-Eye Moody's eye). Eventually, the two men with the wand and the stone soon died, but the third man remained alive thanks to the cloak until he reached old age. He then passed the cloak down to his son before returning to Death.
