Answer -
311 in the era of the Greeks - Seleucid era calendar, same as AD 1 - Christian Syriac calendar.
Scripture tells us that Jesus was born during the rein of King Herod. Historians say King Herod died in the year 4 BC, making the birth of Jesus somewhere around the year 4 BC. We know that Joseph had a dream that the baby and mother were in danger. He was instructed to take them into Egypt and ordered to stay there until it was safe to return to their home. They were in Egypt when they got word that Herod had died, and his son, Herod Antipas, assumed the throne.
Additional Information:
Some biblical scholars have Ezra's journey to Jerusalem to restore it (see Ezra 7:8) to be around September 458-457 BC. He began the restoration of the 2nd Temple around late March to late July 457 BC. Now go to Daniel's prophecy of Prophetic Weeks until Messiah comes in Daniel 9:25-26. Using the 69 weeks multiplied by 7 days each results in 483. With the day for a year analogy of Scripture then 483 years from 457 BC would be 27 AD when Jesus started His ministry at age 30. This would mean Jesus was born 4-5 BC (recall the Jewish New Year begins around the Feast of Trumpets in the Autumn of the year).
Before he was born, the years were called BC or Before Christ, and after Jesus was born, the years were called AD or Anno Domini (the year of our Lord). So Jesus was born in the year 1 by our calendar.
However, the scholars and theologians do acknowledge that the Catholic monks did not get the calendar right and Jesus was actually born about three years before the Catholic calculations. So He was 33 years old when he died for our sins and three days later came to life again.
The Bible does not state clearly the year of Jesus' birth. However, many scholars using the few clues in the Scripture (like born during Herod's rule) have concluded that Jesus was born at the end of 5 BC to early 4 BC. Many suspect it was in the Fall season and probably around the Feast of Trumpets in Sept-Oct of the Sacred Calendar.
Answer 2.
In the year 311 of the era of the Greeks - the Seleucid era calendar; of Hebrew usage in that Biblical year, in that area. It corresponds to AD 1 in Syriac Christian MSS.
According to Matthew, Jesus was born "In the days of Herod." Herod died in 4BCE, and it is also written in Matthew that Herod ordered the killing of male infants 2 years and below. So Jesus must be a little older when Herod gave the order. Based on Matthew, a probable date would be no later than 6BCE.
According to Luke, Jesus was born "When Cyrenius was governor of Syria." Cyrenius became Governor of Syria in 6CE. Based on Luke, the year of Jesus' birth is about 6CE.
Although the birthday of Jesus is celebrated on December 25th, there is no evidence or records showing what time of day, month, date, or year He was born.
No one knows when Jesus was born. But most account say he was born 5-10BC.
Since Jesus was "about thirty years old" at the time of his baptism in 29 C.E. (Luke 3:23), his birth took place 30 years earlier, or about the fall of the year 2 B.C.E.
The Bible does not state directly which year Jesus was born, however, many biblical students are coming to agree upon the Fall of 4 BC as the best of choices.
