If November has five Thursdays, Roosevelt got Congress to move Thanksgiving up the the fourth Thursday instead of always the last Thursday as it had been in the past.
um no since it's a holiday.. and lets say the Fourth Of July was perhaps on a Sunday .. then you would not have mail that day and... the following day (Monday) you would not have mail because Sunday is always the mail workers days off. so they would get two days off. do i make sense? :)

It was natural to pick this time. It's summer, it's hot, and lots of folks want to cool off by going to the beach over the holiday. It's the 4th of July, what could possibly go wrong? Add a really, really big shark and things can get out of control. Answer 2 Also, it may have something to do with the projected release date. Have you noticed how the movies released at Thanksgiving and Christmas are often holiday specific??? Answer 3 It was set on the 4th of July because it was the day that the US formally adopted the Declaration of Independence from the UK. It was going to attract holiday makers to the beaches of America. Answer 4 The first answer is a good answer. The plot just makes sense with the setting and it all just "fit". The first answer simply states that at the Fourth of July, a crowd of people would normally decend on the beach. Add a very big hungry shark and it made a good movie. The second answer indicates that Hollywood film makers often make holiday movies that have a release date that coincides with a particular holiday. So if the projected release date was June or July then setting the movie at the Fourth of July was calculated to be more frightening, because the nearness of the date made it more plausible in the minds of those who went to the movie to be pleasantly frightened.
Bastille Day is known as the French National Holiday and is celebrated each year on July 14th. Benjamin Raspai proposed a law on May 21, 1880 in order to make the date an official holiday.
The Fourth of July, or Independence Day, is when the United States of America signed the Declaration of Independence, which would be sent to King George III of England. It declared they were free from British rule, and it started the Revolutionary War. It is celebrated because it is a very important historical event. If you want to make your own Fourth of July, you will need to start your own country. But it will be awkward sharing a date with the USA so I recommend trying on a different day.
Apparently he wanted to make the turkey the national bird. :/
Father's Day is not an official holiday in the US. Attempts to make it a national holiday have not passed Congress. Even though Woodrow Wilson made a speech in honor of the day and Calvin Coolidge said he was in favor of it, neither issued an official proclamation making Father's Day a national holiday.
