Sound was added to a movie for the first time in April 1923, it was a short film that was showed in New York City. The first theatrical motion picture with a sound track (only in certain parts of the movie) was "The Jazz Singer" in 1929.

You might want to investigate the introduction of sound to what were at the time silent movies. Silent Films would be shown at the movie theater, and were often accompanied by an on-site piano or organ. I believe sound was added to movies during the 1920's and are refered to as "talkies".
It depends on what movie you mean, because i understand that not all movie have to have sound, but wouldnt it be a boring movie withoust sounds? With sounds, you can get more feeling expressioned to you as to no sound you wont have a time equal to the fun of noise.
The movie First Time has already released in 2012. This romantic comedy did not do well with critics, but it is a simple feel good movie that is hilarious!
