The US actually have four mints. They are located in Philadelphia, PA, Denver, CO, San Francisco, CA, and West Point, NY. The US bullion depository is located in Fort Knox, KY.
You need to check the back for a mint mark. Assuming average wear, approximate values for different mints are: No mint mark (Phila.) or "S" - $160 "O" - $180 "D" - $1,400

The South African government mints the krugerrand in gold only. There are silver kruggerrands floating around but they are not minted coins so be careful.
