In almost all rotary electrical equipment, and associated with much equipment that is not itself electric - in things such as alternators/dynamos.

Electromagnets are used by people who run scrap iron yards. They use an electromagnet as a crane to lift, move, and then set down piles of metal by turning the magnetism of the crane on and off. That is just one use, there are probably more.

Normally the Danish physicist Hans Christian Ørsted is said to have discovered electromagnetism while doing a lecture in 1820. He was a professor at the University of Copenhagen at the time. So Copenhagen, Denmark was probably where the lecture took place and therefore the place where electromagnetism was discovered.

Electromagnets can be found in your stereo speakers, infact in any kind of speakers be it your earphones, headphones, car horns, etc.

They can also be found in the classic door bells.
