A:In Luke's Gospel, as soon as Mary's time for purification had been fulfilled, Jesus' parents took Jesus to Jerusalem to be presented at the Temple, then took him back to their home in Nazareth in Galilee.

In Matthew's Gospel, Jesus' parents stayed in their home in Bethlehem until Joseph was warned in a dream that King Herod sought to have Jesus killed. They fled with Jesus from Bethlehem to Egypt, where they remained until some time after the death of Herod. They began the return journey to their home in Bethlehem but, once again being warned in a dream, turned aside and travelled to a city called Nazareth, in Galilee.

Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem. Soon after, King Herod was killing all boys under age 2. God warned Mary and Joseph to leave Bethlehem and go to Egypt. They spent a couple years in Egypt before they

returned to Palestine and Nazareth, their hometown. From then on, Jesus stayed mostly in that area.
