If you can find a copy of "The German Generals Talk" it would be a good start. It is a series of extended interviews with senior German commanders. Also, Albert Speer wrote a memoir of his experiences as the German armaments minister (and a close personal friend of Hitler). Some of the other Germans wrote memoirs as well. If you are interested in the war in the Pacific, the man who served as Japanese foreign minister during most of the war wrote a very good memoir called "The Cause of Japan". He gives a detailed, insiders account of the preparations for Pearl Harbor. If you are interested in how ordinary people were affected by the war, "The Diary of Anne Frank" is excellent.Michael Montagne
