It 'travels', via the transmission and distribution systems, to the load (i.e. factories, residences, etc.).
There should be instructions found somewhere on the dolly but if not then here goes. Have two people perform this. Tip the appliance just enough so that you can fit the plate at the bottom of the dolly under the appliance. Make sure that the dolly is on the side of the appliance that will allow it to fit through any doorway. Once the plate on the dolly if fully under the appliance and the dolly is snug against the appliance, hook the strap around the appliance and back into the the ratchet. The strap is very, very important! Ratchet the strap until it holds the dolly tight to the appliance. Here is where some common sense comes into play. Are you strong enough to tip the appliance towards you and balance it on the dolly as you push or pull it where you want it to go? If the answer is no or you are not sure then you need to find someone that can. Many people have been crushed or injured by having a refrigerator fall on them. If you have any doubts, call someone.
You might be plugging something in that could have a fault on it, sometimes plugging in a transformer could trip out your fuse, but more often than not your electricity will go due to its breaker tripping at the board due to something being plugged in. Check the cord on the appliance, if no visible damage open plug and and check for loose wiring and check connections at appliance also check for leaking water into sockets and lights! A tripped breaker or a tripped GFCI plug, or maybe you have a blown breaker, or a corroded wire.
Yes and no. This answer depends mostly on the path that lightning will take through your home when it hits. Probably the best way to explain this is that your electrical wiring in your home is like a big net, all interconnected by your electrical panel. When everything is connected the breakers can act as barriers to electrical surges, but they may not be totally effective as they usually need a fraction of a second to pop. Arc fault protected and ground fault protected breakers are faster and more sensitive so they will protect circuits better but they are not recommended for all of your appliances. The good news is that electricity takes the path of least resistance so once it hits your panel, if its grounded properly (and it should be), the electricity will go to your ground, away from the house. If the electricity hits a circuit of your house that is connected to your appliance, it may damage your appliance. The best thing is for your appliance to REMAIN connected to the panel so that the grounding can direct the path of the electricity away from your appliance. On the other hand, if it hits another part of the house and the appliance is isolated, it could protect it even more just by not being hooked to the net at the time. In the end, stay away from your panel during a storm. You will be safer and your insurance company will ask fewer questions. They may not cover your loss if you turned the breaker off and damage occurred.
It is to prevent electrical shocks.

To the best of my knowledge I believe you should be able to go to the City Public Service Website for information regarding this. You could go to websites that tell you how much the average appliance uses in electricity. From there you can add the amount on your own. City public Service offers information like this. Since city public service is the company that provides the electricity for our city then I just assume they could provide that information. They also offer free devices that help maintain the amount of electricity you use. CPS will also send someone to your house to help you work the devices and check your house for efficiency
