THE COMMON BREATH OF HUMANITY take a deep breath, that deep breath you just took contains thousands and thousands of nitrogen atoms, a single breath weights a lil more than 3/4 of a gram, 600 breaths = i pound. air is 78% nitrogen 21% oxygen an small traces of carbon dioxide an & gas's. its estimated around 24 thousand million million, million nitrogen atoms in a single breath, also theirs 10 million million more nitrogen atoms as there are people and more than 100 billion times more nitrogen atoms as stars in our galaxy. when you exhale tose 24thousand million million, million nitrogen atoms they mingle with other nitrogen & oxygen atoms in the atmosphere and in the course of time they becomes mixed together by the winds an such. every person on this earth will be using some of those nitrogen atoms that you just exhaled. you share you breath with all the people of the earth, for the fact that there are 3 times as many nitrogen atoms in one breath as there are beaths in the whole atmosphere, so that also means every breath you take in right now, right this moment contains probably 3 atoms shared by every man. woman an child on this planet, also that means that 3 atoms out of 24 thousand million million million atoms, 3 of those atoms where breath in by man, woman and child not only in this period, but every other period in history, it means the breath your breathing in now has been shared by every person who ever lived on this planet, the air your breathing in now 3 atoms probably where breath in by your great, great grandparents, or maybe even ramsey the third king of Egypt, or any other human being you care to name, that s the sharing of humanities breath. does this helps. justgena

The oxygen enters your bloodstream and then the cells of your body where it is used to oxidize molecules like sugar to produce energy. The oxygen is ultimately combined with electrons to become water.

The oxygen that goes in to our body where does it end up?

the oxygen that goes in to our body it gets to bloodstream, and cells and than after that it turns in to water and blood to keep us alive.

Oxygen goes from entering the lungs to little grape like things calved alveoli. The oxygen dissolves on the moist surface of the alveoli and diffuses to your blood. Hemoglobin( a substance in red blood cells) helps to carry the oxygen to different cells in the body. Why is oxygen needed? Oxygen is needed to make energy. Oxygen is used in the cellular respiration processes of the Krebs cycle and electron transport chain. These processes make 36 ATP (Adenosine Tri-phosphate) molecules. Oxygen is the final electron acceptor in the electron transport chain and is needed to continue this process.

once you breath in oxygen it enters the lungs more specifically the alveoli where it crosses the barrier from the lungs to the circulatory system. once it diffuses into the circulatory system (passive diffusion) its taken up by haemoglobin within the red blood cell which is then distributed to all metabolizing cells. Once it arrives the cell it diffuses into the intracellular region more specifically the mitochondrion where it will be use by the electron transport system in order to produce ATP (energy)

Oxygen, once it has been transported into the blood from gas exchange in the lungs, travels throughout the bodies and into specific tissues by capilliary action. Once it has reached specific tissues it is deposited into specific cells in order for cellular respiration to occur.

Once inhaled, the oxygen will travel down and into your lungs. There, it will be taken up by red blood cells and distribute it throughout your body.

Oxygen diffuses into the blood which is in the capillaries of the alveoli. From there, the blood returns to the heart through the pulmonary vein.

And are the gases we exchange when we breath?

We breath oxygen in and exchange it with CO2 out. The other gasses in the air (nitrogen, etc) enter our lungs when we breath, but do not go into our system or get exchanged, they just get pushed out again.

Why does your pulse go up when you hold your breath?

Your pulse rate and blood pressure both go up as your circulatory system is trying to get enough oxygen to your tissues, with less oxygen in the blood from holding your breath, it has to move faster to try and attain equilibrium, or homeostasis.

Do you breath air?

Yes. All humans breath a type of air called oxygen. Without oxygen we would die.
