Nothing. That "conversation" just enables him to go to Silph Co for a Pokemon trade. He'll trade Beldum for a Forretress

Well, you go to Saffron City and go into that Silph co. building, Steven will be there. if you talk to him he will ask you if you have a foretress. And he will trade you Beldum. to get Foretress you have to get your Pineco to lv.31, in doing so he will trade you a Beldum that will only know take down. The Beldum will be holding a dawn stone.

i saw it was possable to battle steven in heart gold his in the ruins of alpha but i went there but he is not there and i have got the starter of him ( i picked mudkip ) and now he is asking to trade a forretress for a beldum so good luck on you quest
