From the Desktops Finder menu select Go and then select Applications, or use the three keyboard shortcut keys Command, A and Shift. Alternatively open a Finder window, from the Finder icon at the left hand end of the Dock, and Applications should be shown in the window's side bar or Double click on the hard disc's icon and then the Applications folder icon.
