The Great Commission does not for part of Luke's Gospel or the follow-on Acts of the Apostles. In fact it is inconsistent with the story of the resurrected Jesus, as told in Luke-Acts.
The Great Commission is found in Matthew's Gospel, at Matthew 28:16:20, with Jesus saying a final goodbye to the apostles at a mountail in Galilee and telling them to go thence and preach to all nations:
Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
In Luke's Gospel, Jesus met the apostles for a meal on the evening of his resurrection then took them out towards Bethany, where he was taken bodily up into heaven (Luke 24:50-51). Acts of the Apostles is similar to Luke's Gospel, except that Jesus was taken up bodily to heaven near Jerusalem forty days after his resurrection. In neither book is there a place for Jesus to say a final goodbye to the apostles and tell them to go thence and preach to all nations.
Luke chapter 24 verse 47 is similar to the great commission;
Luke 24:47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
According to Matthew's Gospel, Jesus told the women to send the disciples to Galilee, where he would meet them. This meeting took place in a mountain in Galilee and ended with the Great Commission, in which Jesus sent the disciples to teach to all nations, saying that he would be with them (spiritually) always. This is a very different tradition than that developed in Luke/Acts and somewhat copied in John, but most Christians do not notice the disjunctions.

Jesus' statement commonly called the "Great Commission" is found in Matthew 28, but all the synoptic accounts of the commission indicate that the gospel is for Gentiles also.Matthew 28:19, 20 - Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.Mark 16:15 - And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."Luke 24:47 - and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.[Quotes from NKJV]
For convenience, we call the (anonymous) author of Luke's Gospel, 'Luke'. However, the attribution to Luke, physician and companion of Paul, was only made later in the second century and is unlikely to be correct. We do not know who really wrote Luke's Gospel.
The most famous parable in the gospel of Luke was The Prodigals Son.
