It was supposedly just outside Jerusalem, though that doesn't make sense in terms of military strategy and geographic boundaries. In terms of modern location names, nobody knows for sure. The historian, Eusebius of Caesarea, identified the location of Golgotha as being north of Mount Zion.

The gospel of Mark 15:22 calls the place "Golgotha" (the place of the skull); more popularly, the place of Christ's crucifixion is often called "Mount Calvary."
