"Which is better New or Old?"
The Answer most people will say to be New and in my years of expertise with computers, i have to say Windows 7. If configured right, it can use less resources then Windows XP (Hard to believe) and in terms of the drivers, the security and networking, i would have to say Windows 7 blows the doors off Windows XP.
However, as a second opinion, if you don't need all those extra features and you have an old program that was programmed for Windows XP that will not work with Windows 7 and has to be reprogrammed but you can't afford that right now... Then Windows XP is better. It really depends, because XP has been around for longer, if you proceed with the necessary steps, you can make your XP perform very smooth and even comparable to 7 however because Windows 7 is newer, it has newer software that allows it to perform much faster and cleaner. If you wanted to setup your machine using 7, it would be a very easy process having to get all the needed software and drivers almost automatically and configuring the network with ease.... where as if you wanted to do it with XP, you can forget about the automatic process and sit down with some manual time because until you finish making everything work, it just won't budge.
At the end of the day, its up to your preference and how much work you want to spend on configuring your operating system. Personally, i like it when i can just tell it to automatically find things and within acouple of hours im done... but if you wanna spend twice as long or maybe even three times aslong finding all the correct software for your Windows XP... by all means, have fun.
Remember guys, Microsoft is going to support Windows XP only until 2014, that could also help answer this question.... if the manufacturer doesn't want to support this product anymore, what does that tell you?
windows 7 is better than windows xp because of its look and features and the new technology. But if you Have a lower Graphics Card xp will be a little Faster.
More people would prefer Windows 7 over Windows XP, if they weren't too stubborn to upgrade or buy a new PC or notebook.

Yes,you can run Windows Live Messenger for Windows XP on Windows 7. And all of the other Windows Live Essentials for Windows XP work on Windows 7 without any problems. So you can install and run all of the Windows Live Essentials for Windows XP on Windows 7 and Windows Vista. You can get Windows Live Essentials for Windows XP from the Microsoft website.
It does have better security built in than Windows XP. Always make sure to have an anti virus software of your own though.

No,
Well, Windows 7 Professional comes with, "XP Mode." "XP Mode" is a program installed Windows 7 Professional where you can use XP on a Windows 7-upgraded/Windows 7-installed PC or notebook.Windows 7 Home Premium, and Windows 7 UltimateDO NOT come with "XP Mode."
it is an operation system (windows) being windows 7 but modified to behave like Windows XP
Windows 7 is an upgrade of windows XP. I prefer windows XP mainly because im used to the software such as office 2003. Windows 7's office 2007 is much harder to use and takes a lot longer to get used to.. Comparing them both, i would say windows 7 is a downfall to Microsoft, they could of done a lot better with everything to be quite honest. Windows xp is the better option in my opinion.
