This belief is not as scurrilous as the one called "The Hollow Earth Theory."
Why is that called a theory when captain Bird actually flew into the hollow earth, checked it out and returned describing the entire exiting event... having unfortunately not a camera with him at that time.
Why did he not go back to record the reality of his discovery, you may ask?
A: Because everyone laughed at him and he couldn't take the abuse, plus no one would give him a plane to retry such a stunt in case they lost both, a courageous pioneer and discoverer and the plane (which was considered far more valuable).
i delcare that columus believed the world was flat, but it is a perfect sphere! does this answer your question?
Whites/Caucasoid's/Caucasians/Europeans/Eurasians.
Yes they believed this because when you look at the Fields they look flat not like they dip as if the world was round hope this helps
Andrew Jackson was the only U.S. President to believe the world was flat.
No one believed that the earth was flat in the 1600 it was a well know fact that the world was round. This myth that people used to believe that the world was flat didn't exsist before 1870-1920. The myth probably came to existance because it was way more intriguing that Colombus in a world where everyone thought was flat was the only one who believed it was round.
well the world never was flat (from what I know, haha) it was simply a myth, that people believed before anyone actuall sailed around the world. I think that's right anyway, haha.
false
Both believed that the world was spherical, not flat.
no the world has always been round. but it was believed that the earth was flat because pioneers never traveled far enough to know then some one was smart enough to realize the earth was round.
Since the determination of the fact that Earth is spherical as opposed to flat, all scientists (after a short lag period) have accepted that it is so.
Prior to colonial exploration many believed that the world was flat. By discovering a sea route to Asia, colonial powers opened up more trade routes. They also determined that the world was not flat at all.
people who believed the earth is flat, not a sphere like most people believe.
