Tourists and pilgrims from around the world visit the Vatican as well as Church officials and diplomats who have business with the Vatican. Most of the employees of the Vatican live in Rome and come each day to work there. We must also throw in a number of criminals, such as purse snatchers and pick-pockets, who come to the Vatican to prey on tourists.

Those who work in the Vatican include the pope, members of the Roman curia and others including secretaries, maintenance workers, museum workers and curators, archivists, clerks, the Swiss Guard, Vatican police, gardeners, custodians and so forth.
