∙ 8y agoThere are many inspirational verses in The Bible, depending on what your friend's spiritual needs are. However, there are many reasons for depression and, particularly if the symptoms of depression are long standing, an emphasis on the Bible could actually make matters worse.
If your friend is grieving over a recent loss, allow him or her time for closure. If your friend is depressed because of a feeling of lack of self-worth, help him or her gain self-confidence. More importantly, if the depression could require medical diagnosis and treatment, then encourage your friend to seek help from a health professional. Depression can be a treatable disease.
