People who hated Jews supported the Holocaust. Hatred of Jews was a tradition in Europe going back over a millennium, and was originally based on resentment of the fact that while all other ethnic groups in Europe gave up their various pagan religions and converted to Christianity, Jews insisted on keeping their own religion. There were also a variety of other, additional reasons why Jews were convenient targets. Many people sought to profit (and many did profit) by seizing the property of Jews whom they killed. And the organizers and leaders of the Holocaust had gained political power by falsely accusing Jews of being responsible for Germany's defeat in WW I, and for everything else that Germany was unhappy about in the early 20th century. People enjoy having such simple answers to their complicated problems. Even now, in the 21st century, there are those who like to blame all of the problems of the world on Jews.
