Hamid Karzai was President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in 2007.
Hamid Karzai was officially elected and sworn in as the President of Afghanistan on 2004 December 7. He was re-elected as President on the 2009 August election.
In 2001, after the collapse of the Taliban government due to the US-Afghanistan war, Karzai became the chairman of the Afghan Interim Administration on 2001 December 22, transitioning into President of the Afghan Transitional Administration on 2002 June 13.
On 2014 September 29, Karzai was replaced by Ashraf Ghani.

The latest 2014 presidential election results seem to indicate that Ashraf Ghani will be the next President of Afghanistan, though these results are not yet official.
