Daniel Kablan Duncan is the Prime Minister of the Ivory Coast.

Daniel Duncan first became Prime Minister of the Ivory Coast on 1993 December 11, appointed by President Henri Bédié whom took power after long-standing President Félix Houphouët-Boigny died. Both Duncan and Bédié were removed from power after a military coup occurred on 1999 December 24, eventually resulting in President Gbagbo taking power a year later.

Duncan was again appointed prime minister on 2012 March 13 by President Alassane Ouattra.

Alassane Dramane Ouattara is the current President of the Ivory Coast.

Former Prime Minister of the Ivory Coast from 1990 November 7 to 1993 December 9, Ouattra was Prime Minister of the Ivory Coast under president Félix Houphouët-Boigny, until the president died of prostate cancer. There was a struggle with Ouattra and Henri Konan Bédié for power, but eventually Bédié won, and Ouattra returned to working for the IMF.

Ouattra attempted to run for president in 1998, but had his nationality papers revoked by the courts. Not until shortly after the 1999 coup d'état, did Ouattra return to the country, supporting the revolution. However, he was barred from the 2000 presidential election by a law which stated that both of the candidates' parents must be from the Ivory Coast. This was a major factor in the 2002 civil war.

Not until 2007 was Ouattra told by Gbagbo he could run for president. The election had already been delayed from 2005 due to the civil war, and was further delayed to 2010. Finally on 2010 October 31, the presidential election was held. Ouattra was initially deemed to be the winner, but the Constitutional Council later invalidated half a million votes, declaring Gbagbo the winner. This led to a lesser civil war, which eventually ended up with Gbagbo's arrest on 2011 April 11. Ouattra was finally sworn in as president on 2011 May 6, 6 months after his election.

Laurent Koudou Gbagbo was the President of the Ivory Coast in 2005.

During the 2000 election following the 1999 coup, he and Robert Guéï, the former military leader and temporary head of the country, were candidates. The results of the election were contested, but a popular uprising in support of Gbagbo forced Guéï to withdraw. Gbagbo became president in 2000 October 26 and was expected to end his term in 2005. However, a civil war broke out, and his presidency was extended first to 2006, then to 2007. After the end of the civil war in 2007, elections were planned in 2008, but as Gbagbo was the only candidate, the elections were again postponed.

Elections were held on 2010 October 31, with a run-off on November 28. The results were disputed with both Gbagbo and Alassane Dramane Ouattara declaring victory, leading to the 2011 Ivorian crisis. Eventually Gbagbo was arrested on 2011 April 11, definitively ending his presidency.

Felix Houphouet-Boigny, and they like to call it Cote d'Ivoire even though the name is still translated often enough.
