"In time Adah gave birth to Jabal. He proved to be the founder of those who dwell in tents and have livestock. And the name of his brother was Jubal. He proved to be the founder of all those who handle the harp and the pipe." -(Genesis 4:20-21NWT)
Jabal and Jubal were brothers, borne by Lamech and Adah. Lamech and Adah were descendants of Cain. Jabal was not the first shepherd since Abel had been one. Evidently Jabal either initiated or was predominant in nomadic livestock raising as a way of life. He also may have invented tents which would make that lifestyle much easier as pasturages can give out. Jubal may have invented both wind and string instruments or even 'founded' a profession which helped the progression of music.
Jubal was the second son of Lamech by Adah, a descendant of Cain. He is described as the inventor of the Harp and Organ (Genesis 4:21).
Jubal: And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ (Genesis 4.21)
The Bible's sole reference to Jubal is in Genesis 4:21 -His brother's name was Jubal. He was the father of all those who play the harp and flute. [NKJV]No more is said of him, but from this mention it would appear that he and his offspring were the originators of musical instruments.
