It produces from 13.5 to 15.5 volts but it produces high amperage. It only produces that voltage as that is all that is needed to recharge a 12 volt battery.
Put a new alternator on it or tear the old alternator apart and replace the voltage regulator in it.
Alternator going out.
The low voltage light should come on if you have a bad alternator. Without a good alternator, the battery will die causing the low voltage.
Inside the alternator. It's part of the alternator. If you are having problems with low or high voltage output, I'd recommend replacing the alternator as a unit.
A battery does not produce power, it just stores power. The alternator produces the DC voltage the battery stores. As the power is taken from the battery it is replenished by the alternator.
internal voltage regulator in alternator. Can't overhaul 'em anymore. Replace the alternator
It means the battery voltage is low. Can be the battery is defective or the alternator is failing.
The brake lights come on. The alternator should maintain voltage (14.2) unless the alternator is failing or the battery is nearing end of life.
The battery light comes on when the alternator output voltage is too low or too high. You have a wiring or regulator problem. The battery light comes on when the alternator output voltage is too low or too high. You have a wiring or regulator problem.
The ignition switch may lead to low voltage on a 1994 Chevy Cheyenne with a new alternator and a fairly new battery.
Low plus bb voltage to the Power Train Module means that for some reason the voltage actually is too low. Check the battery an alternator for the proper voltage output.
When the ignition is turned on, battery voltage passes down the wire to the alternator to 'excite' the alternator when the engine starts. When the engine starts and the alternator generates a voltage, the light is extinguised by the charging voltage cancelling out the battery voltage coming down the wire. If and when the alternator completetly fails the the light will come back on as there is no sancelling voltage. if the alternator produces a voltage lower than the voltage from the ignition switch then the battery light will glow.
