Fox News is a cable TV channel that is free to do what is called "niche" programming-- it can focus on one particular thing and one thing only. This is one advantage that cable has-- you can be an all-sports channel or an all-cooking channel, or in the case of Fox, a Republican/conservative political channel. Fox has found a niche that is very effective and very profitable, being the voice of conservative news, opinion and commentary. While they have an occasional moderate or centrist (and even a Democrat now and then), the focus of the network is promoting Republican perspectives and talking points, and few networks do it as well.

NBC on the other hand is not a niche network. They do not just offer one thing. NBC does have newscasts and a team of news reporters (many of whom are veteran broadcasters and widely respected) but the network is not all-news. It also broadcasts dramas, comedies, entertainment programs, talent shows, etc; news is just one small part of what they do. Some critics believe NBC is liberal, but this not accurate. Many of NBC's correspondents are identifiably Republican, but the network's news programs strive to be neutral, and the reporters generally keep their views to themselves and focus on reporting the big stories of the day. This is what NBC has done since its inception as a radio network in 1926.
