Much of everday life involves percentages. The 12 oz. package of pancake mix makes 24 pancakes, uses 3 eggs. But I don't WANT 24 pancakes for breakfast- my two sons will eat about 4 each. If I understand percentages, I can use 33% of the mix (4 oz) and 33% of the eggs (one egg) and make 8 pancakes.
You like the shoes at the Gym Locker- they are $100, but TODAY ONLY they are on sale for 25% off. You have $80. Oh- forgot- sales tax is 4 %. Understand percentages, and you will know if you have enough money. (PS- $100-25%= $75, + $4% tax= $78. You have enough to buy the shoes, and $2 left to buy syrup for the pancakes)
