Potted azaleas are grown in almost pure peat so to keep the rootball moist submerge the pot in a bucket of water until the air bubbles stop rising the allow the excess water to drain off. Do not allow it to dry out again.
A couple of things that happened and are happening to me. The deer were eating my bushes in the winter so I bought a bottle of "Deer Off" at Lowes and sprayed the bushes in the fall of the year. The nest year they had very few leaves and lots of flowers. The next year all most all the leaves were dead and the branches were also dead and brittle. I pulled out 7 of the 13 plants. Another thing I noticed is I have a male cat and he likes to spray his territory on the bushes around the outside of the house I think this is causing them to dye also because one of my small pine trees was all brown on one side. While digging out the dead plants I noticed ants around some of the plants.

When is a good time to cut back azalea bush? No matter what time of the year my husband trims back the azalea bush it does not produce large number of flowers.
To root an azalea, the branch should be cut just below a node. The cutting can be placed in sand and kept moist until it forms roots.
Either it's not getting enough water, or it doesn't have enough acid fertilizer. Lack of water of fertilizer will cause yellowing leaves.
They will grow in full sun but prefer slight shade.

check the base of the plant to see if rodents are eating the bark. chances are that this symptom is caused by a physical damage to the plant.

An azalea bush can be moved by digging a very large hole around the bush and easing the roots loose keeping a lot of dirt on the roots. Do this in the spring or fall when there are no harsh temperatures.
