Certainly it was not for making money. Alfred Lord Tennyson could not help writing poetry. Many people think in poetical terms and in the poetical order for whom poetry is not a conscious act. When rich imageries spontaneously overflow incessantly, some of them would be opportune enough to record a few for our luck. Tennyson was such a person. His society demanded him and made him. And in Tennyson's times, poetry was what gained reputation for a man in society. That prosperous, rich and fertile era was in need of a very good romantic poet and he responded tastefully.

No one REALLY knows why Alfred Noyes wrote poems but it is most likely because he had a passion for writing. Instead of writing long books, Alfred Noyes cut them down to shorter versions, known as poems. Many people have a passion to write and express their feelings, and would like to share it with the rest of us.
