They came for many reasons:
- To be independent and free.
- Because they saw New Zealand less streefull both professionaly and educationally.
- The Germans appreciated the civil rights and advocay for freedom
- In the 1840's it was hard for rural labourers because they were under the landowning aristocracy. They were allowed to leave there master but if they did they couldn't live on the land and so fir so many immagration was the only answer.

New Zealand and Australia have distinct currencies. Australia has the Australian Dollar and New Zealand has the New Zealand Dollar. They are not interchangeable or usable in both countries and they have differing values.
