Why did every sect of humanity that 'evolved' everywhere have a belief in a god?

Historically, not every sect of humanity did; there is at least one Amazonian Tribe and one Pacific Tribe that have no belief in any Deity. Many others may have existed; but their history was destroyed when European (as well as Middle Eastern and Chinese) explorers and missionaries converted them and made assumptions about their culture (the Inuit and Northwestern Native Americans may have had no deities; we cannot know for sure.)

However, if you were looking for a more Theological and less Historical viewpoint (specifically a Christian one):

This need to acknowledge something more important than ourselves is inborn in us, because the planet we call home and everything on it came from the same source. That source exists, or we would not be here answering and asking this question. We know intuitively that we did not construct the tree outside our window, and we did not form our baby's fingernails ourselves. Common Sense tells us there is something, rather than nothing. Many, if not most, of us call that something, "God."

We know God exists intuitively, not necessarily intellectually. That is why we question. We want to have tangible proof of God's existence, because we are tangible beings. But our true selves are spiritual, like God. But unlike God, our spirits are housed in a physical body, so when we think on the physical level, we demand physical proof. When we choose to live on the spiritual level, we know we do not need anything more than our inborn wisdom.
