Because technology wasn't as bright as today's tech. Also, Britain was the only country innovating until some smugglers helped America thrive to success. The steamboat was later created due to the smugglers from Britain. America was still a new country, so they had to stabilize their productions first before inventing as much as Britain.

Because many people tried to copy it as there own and the invention kept getting changed and built in different forms until one person built the best working one and got a patent so other people would stop trying to find more ways to build it and call it their own.

war is a posibilety, the need for the steam boat was not there.

but also need to think about it. 30 000 years or more is the number the stone age was.

why did not the resistance happend sooner? and so on. the answere is ofthen the need did not arise. as now the need for cyborgs is not there. the need for colonizing space is not there, so we just sitt on our plannet and say angry words at al the other countrys or friendly to some other.
