Because Elijah Wood has LARGE EYES, dummy!
Ever seen him outside that movie? Ever see anything outside LOTR since it was released? Try "The Good Son". He was with McCauley Culkin in a close-up scene at night looking directly into the camera in surprise (just like he was mostly surprised or scared poopless in LOTR) and the young lady I was at the movie with AND I turned and looked at each other simultaineously and said, "What LARGE EYES he has!" !! HA! Like it was the Big Bad Wolf or something! (Sorry, I was Surfing for an image and ran across this dumb question. OK, call me a troll.)
