Scrooge hates Christmas due to past experiences that have shaped his negative views about the holiday. He associates Christmas with loneliness, loss, and abandonment, and believes it is a time of unnecessary expense and frivolity. Additionally, his focus on wealth and greed has hardened his heart towards the spirit of generosity and goodwill that Christmas represents.

He thinks it is a waste of money and that it drains a man's wallet.

In addition, Christmas season has always been a time of misery for Scrooge, from the time of his childhood to the death of his only "friend," Jacob Marley.

Not at first - he was a lonely person as a child left at boarding school whilst all others were home with family and then on leaving school he worked and thought that this period was behind him until his sister Fan dies in child birth. He has a fiance in Belle but he focusses on money to show his success and loses Belle because of this. It is only when these points are shown to him and the fact the his life was close to ending and with him being unloved or care for did he realise what "life" really was about
