Metal is a conductor. Heat is an energy. The world around us is constantly seeking an equilibrium. Therefore the heat from the Hot Chocolate transfers (by conduction) from the warm drink into the cooler spoon until the two are at equal temperatures.

Transfer of heat through conduction. Metal is a very good conductor of heat.

Does leaving a metal spoon in a hot drink make it cool faster?

the spoon is metal and metal conducts heat , if you put a metal spoon in a drink the drink will retain the heat but if you take it out it's like your taking a whole lot of heat, in other words a metal spoon is like a magnet of heat it you remove the spoon it will remove heat but if you keep it in the heat will stay.shoraye khatter.

Why does a metal spoon kept in hot tea become hot?

The heat will transfer to the spoon (if metal).

Why does a metal spoon feel hotter than a wooden spoon when in hot water?

because metal is a conductor which likes hot things

When you touch a hot metal spoon what is the heat is transferred by?

yea

Look at figure 6-1 in your text Explain the transfer of energy in diagram and tell why the metal spoon gets hot?

part of the spoon is heated by contact with the hot water .heat is transferred through the metal spoon, particle by paricle, until the entire spoon is hot.

When a metal spoon is used in a hot liquid the handle of the spoon soon becomes hot This process of heat transfer is called?

Conduction.

You are making soup and you put a metal spoon in the pot to stir the soup. You leave and when you come back to stir the soup the spoon is super hot. What term describes why the spoon is so hot?

Conduction. The metal of the spoon conducts heat - therefore it heats up.

Why does a metal spoon get hot in a pot of boiling water?

'nothing, it's like putting a spoon in a hot soup' Wrong ^ As the metal spoon is a better conductor of heat than the air the hot water (or soup) and the spoon as a larger surface area with the air (or active sight) it transfers heat to the surrounding faster, thus cooling the hot liquid faster.

When a metal spoon is left in a hot cup of sour is that conduction?

Yes.

If you touch a hot metal spoon you experience heat transferred by what?

conduction

Why an empty glass cracks when you pour very hot water into it but it does not crack if there is a metal spoon in it?

As the metal spoon is a good conductor of heat and because heat travels from a hotter reigion to a colder reigion, the metal spoon will conduct heat away from the hot water and thus, the emty glass will not crack.

A metal spoon was left in a pot of boiling soup the cook burned his finger by touching the spoon why did the finger get burned?

Metal is a conductor. The spoon heated up from the soup and when the cook touched the spoon, he got burned because the spoon was hot from the soup.
