You can start house training your puppy almost as soon as you get her. Poodles are very intelligent so will pick up most things quickly, but the best method I have found is praising good behaviour and offering a treat every time your pup goes to the toilet outside. After a few weeks it will become second nature to your pup and you can wean off the treats. Personally I never used a cage with my poodles. I gave them the run of the house so they could investigate everything and become accustomed to their new surroundings and their new home and all the new smells and the household pattern. I also watched them like a hawk and any indication of toilet time and I scooped up the pup and put him outside and gave him a treat when he has urinated or defecated. But yes you can start house training her from a cage now. Congrats on your new pup.
