as we know that a rotating magnetic field is created by the satator current, and so in the rotor there is induced current and there by the rotor developes a unidirectional torque. so since the rotor runs with a speed other than the synchronous speed of rotating magnetic field produced by stator current so it is called as asynchronous motor..

asynchronous -means not moving with synchronous speed

The word induction means that there is no contact between two parts. A current in the stator of the motor induces a current into the coils of the rotor of the motor. The induced current in the rotor produces a magnetic field that locks on to the revolving magnetic fields in the stator. The fact that it is a three phase motor means that this action is going on in the motor in three different places at once. The separation of this action is taking place 120 degrees from each other throughout each revolution of the stator field.

What is an inducting motor?

induction motor has two control system one is stator control another rotor control And it comes under the category of asynchronous motors. The term induction is because the rotor of an a.c motor does not receive the electric power through conduction but by induction same as the secondary of the transformer receives the power from primary. And so an induction motor can also be called as a rotating transformer i.e. one in which primary is stationary and secondary is free to rotate.

What is an Induction Machine?

An asynchronous alternating-current machine, such as an induction motor or induction generator, in which the windings of two electric circuits rotate with respect to each other and power is transferred from one circuit to the other by electromagnetic induction.Reference: Wiki Answers

What is an asynchronous linear-induction weapons?

along the lines of a railgun or coilgun

Why is induction motor called asynchronous motor?

We know that relative speed is responsible to induce voltage. If rotor and the rotating field (stator) speed is same, no voltage will induced because relative speed will be zero. For IM relative speed is not zero and it does not move with sync. speed, and so it is called asynchronous motor.

Why the DC motor is call as synchronous motor?

A 60Hz synchronous motor spins at synchronous speed - if it's a two pole motor it will spin at exactly 1800 rpms. An asynchronous motor will spin at a speed lower than the power supply frequency - a symilar asynchronous motor may spin at 1700 rpms.
