Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is most popular because it is the last Harry Potter book and movie.
The Harry Potter series became more popular over the years. The more famous the series got, the bigger marketing budget they got and the bigger the fan base grew. By the time the seventh book was released adaptations of the first four books had been released in the cinemas and on DVD and the fifth one had entered cinemas a week before.
Millions of fans all over the world waited eagerly for any scrap of information, a hint as too who might die, names of a new character, a title. Fans debated for months the questions which were left unanswered and ones they theorised on themselves such as who R.A.B was, wither Snape was good or bad or if Harry Potter was a Horcrux.
The release of the movies only helped the growing fan base. The Harry Potter series is unlike anything ever before. There are very few people in the world who can say they have never heard of Harry Potter and don't live under a rock.
The book was very well advertised and when the movies were being released they were advertised even more. The split caused more publicity, the second part being in 3D pulled more people in.
People remember the last one because it was advertised best and because nothing came after to beat it. Before Deathly Hallows, Half-Blood Prince was the most famous in the series.
