It is called after members of the O'Moore family. Rory O'Moore was a rebel involved in the organising of a rebellion in 1641. He was born in Laois. An uncle of his, also Rory O'Moore was also involved in Irish rebellions. There were other O'Moore's also involved in rebellions.
