Why is it that Lawyers don't have to swear to tell the truth in court?

A lawyer will tell you that it is because they have already sworn to and because they are "officers" of the court they don't have to. The truth however is that they don't have to because Lawyers write the rules and they don't want to hold each other up to standards they know they will never keep. Look at the courtroom. Witnesses swear to tell the truth, cops swear to tell the truth, jurors swear to be fair, even enterpreters have to swear in, everyone except the judge and the prosecutor and defense have to. This is the same reason sharks are able to swim in the sea without eating each other, professional courtesy. Lawyers claim having to swear to tell the truth would reduce their ability to advocate for their client. That is lawyer speak for " I can't tell the truth, because most criminal clients did what they were charged with and I can't let on like I know that". As long as we allow lawyers to run the systems it will never change. Don't vote for anyone with a law degree. It permits a person to live in the areas between black and white and to dance between the rain drops. Thankfully most recent graduates from law school are servers at the steak house.
