An ice cube is a solid. This means that its molecules hold tightly together and it retains its shape.

Water is a liquid. This means that its molecules are loosely bonded together, and gravity can pull them down. When it does, the molecules will spread out to fill the shape of the container they are in.

Because water is liquid therefore doesn't have a definite shape, unlike the ice cube which is solid now a and has a definite volume and shape and is already fit to shape its current container.

water liquid is in liquid form and it means that the atoms (H2 & O)s are free to move and takes w/e space of solid we give them. If it`s in a container it takes the space. if it`s spread on a table its flat.

but an ice cube is frozen and the atoms are frozen solid and it cant move at all it has a ``frozen`` shape of its own it doesnt need a container or anything to expand itself.

ice is nothing like water its just that its made of the same ting. ice is a solid and slides don't take they shape of the container because the particles are all tightly packed together.hope this helped :)

Solids have their own shape that does not depend on the container; the molecules in a solid are stronger linked.
