The world, especially the well educated and wealthy part of it has been heading in that direction for many years. for a long time relationships were tightly controlled by conventions that protected the structure of the family and extended family, especially in the case of the wealthy, as the ordinary people themselves became wealthier they chose to emulate the traditions of the wealthy. the religious considerations however let a lot of their punch as people became less controlled by religion.a much bigger importance is being placed on the individuals own judgment and a reduction in the influence of the church, these values are changing. Just after the invention of oral contraceptives there was almost a free for all Young people liked sex and had it without feeling they were doing wrong, after all there were no children being born as a result of their action. then AIDS scared hell back into them and the next generation became more reserved and moved back into a more staid position. Sex has long since been used as an advertising attraction that and the increased control we seem to be getting over AIDS is simply leading people back in the direction of sexuality for fun. Values should not be confused with a prohibition on sex.
