You need to go to a car parts store, and get a repair manual for your car. They cost about $16.00 Or, go to a Public Library. New It's located in the front wheel well. Remove front left wheel, then unscrew battery door. Actually, there's no reason to remove the driver's side front wheel, just tur…n wheel to left and right behind the wheel you'll find an access panel, remove this and there's your battery. Recommend removing negative post first to prevent "short circuit" when removing positive terminal. Good Luck! (MORE)
To set the compass, find a LARGE empty parking lot. Drive counterclockwise around 10-12 mph; about the second revolution you'll see the compass go into "--" display; by the fifth or so you'll see it pick up the proper headings and you're done. On the other hand, if it's like mine, there's a sensor s…omewhere that went out. I can drive in circles all day and no matter what, I'm still driving SW regardless of direction! This worked on my 2000 Chrysler Town & Country. THANKS!! (MORE)
Hidden Freeze Plugs . \nThere are several freeze plugs but the ones that are hidden and you are probably looking for are between the engine and the transmission mounting. The bad news is that you have to remove the transmission to some extent to even see the plugs. Good luck.
Answer . Mine is not a '96, but on this car and others I have owned - not all Chryslers - the location and amperage of each of the fuses has been detailed in the owner's manual. Check there if you haven't already.
i have a 96 was alsolooking into changing top look on ebay there is a guywho sells tops with an instructual dvd for installation
Answer . Behind your back seat cushion. You have to remove the seat to get to the hydraulic pump. to remove the seat you use a large screwdriver between your floor and the seat bottom at the front about a foot from each end. you will be able to tell that you cant pull the seat up as easily in two… spots and you have to situate the screwdriver in those locations. Be careful not to break the seat or the bars, but sometimes you have to apply a lot of upwards force to get these two hooks to release. also you cannot put the screwdriver directly on top of the latch hook, the metal retaining bar doesnt continue through this area... place something under the side you unhook first to keep it from relatching in its slot. then do the other side. you then pull out the bottom of the seat, remove the two nuts holding the seatbelt latch bar on, and the back seat slides upward and comes right out.. There is a piece of sound dampening material with a black material on it covering up the location of the motor. once you lift this up the motor is right ther in the middle of the framing underneat the drain pan assembly.. i reccomdend putting your top down if possible to remove the back seat. it makes it a lot more comfortable to perform this task.. I answered this anonomously on accident..... t0cableguy (MORE)

Remove the screws that are holding the speaker to the door. Pull the speaker out enough to detach the plastic clip that connects the wiri…ng to the speaker. Installing the door speaker is the reverse of removing the speakers. (MORE)

Not a DIY job. . \nReplacing a windshield on a modern car is not a DIY job, besides, a broken windshields are covered by your insurance with no deductible. Call a Automobile glass replacement service and have them replace it.
Answer . remove the back seat by prying up on the front of the seat cushion, you will then expose 2 nuts holding your seatbeilt latches. remove them, and the seatback should easily pull upwards.\n. \nthe hydraulic pump is right there in the center, if you want to access the hydraulic rams that …raise and lower the top there are screws in the side trim panels that you have to remove, and there are push in holders in the trim panels and around the speaker enclosures there are more screws that you have to remove. you also have to remove the trim piece that runs from the front dash to the rear seat areas to access another push in holder.\n. \nthe panel should come off fairly easy if you have removed all the holders. The pump and motor assembly can be found directly behind the back seat right in the middle. just pull up hard and fast on the front edge of the bottom part of the back seat and it should pop out. You may need to feel around with your finger tips for the two locations where it's actually attched and …pry it up with a large flat blade screwdriver and it will easily lift out from there. Then you'll need to remove the (2) bolts that hold down the seatbelt bracket and lift straight up on the back rest section of the seat to remove it. You'll find the pump just behind the insulation right in the middle. It sounds like a lot, but it's really quite easy.. kenito (MORE)

I have a 2001 sebring and they tend to place the battery in the front driver fender area. You have to remove the front driver tire, then remove (pry or unscrew) the bolts that hold the fender shield in place. It's most likely there in the fender/ bumper area. chilton's guides are pretty good referen…ce too. . \nThe battery is located in the driver side lower fender well behind the wheel well splash guard. well you didnt really give too much information about what kind of motor your car has so let's say it's a 2.7L lx model?. the thermostat is located about a foot down on the front of the motor, but still behind the radiator. it's pretty easily accessible. be careful if you're trying to replace it yo…urself tho, because sebrings has pretty complicated cooling systems. if you testdrive and the problem isn't fixed, the pressure's liable to burst a small hole in the radiator, and then you're looking at $900 parts and labor, just for them to try to replace the water pump, which means the timing belt kit as well. it most likely is the head gasket... sorry for the bad news. I just replaced the alternator on a 97 Sebring JXi convertible, 2.5L engine. I had to remove the four AC compressor mounting bolts so that the AC could be moved away from the engine enough to get a socket on the alternator pivot bolt. You do not need to break the compressor lines. I also removed the… top mounting ear bolt and the bracket to make room to remove the alternator from the engine compartment.. Of course the first thing you do is disconnect the negative battery terminal either at the battery or at the jumper cable location in the engine compartment. You also have to loosen the idler pulley and remove the belt. I removed the front right wheel and plastic cover to get to the pulley and belt. This also permits better access to the AC compressor bolts.. I found it easier to get the alternator free before I disconnected the electrical wires. (MORE)

The convertable top is operated by an electric motor operated hydraulic pump. The assembly is located under the rear seat. This assembly is not serviceable. To get to it you have to bottom rear seat back about 1 inch and lift up and pull forward.
Between the rear seat and the trunk. It is actually behind the rear seat, you have to take out the bottom seat first then the backing, it is encased their. Total time to do it yourself, should take around 2 hours.

The thermostat for a 2004 Sebring Convertable is in under the water outlet for the BOTTOM radiator hose. This is behind the alternator which will have to be removed, after you remove the belts. Plan on an afternoon of work. Hope this helps.
Behind the thermostat housing. The thermostat housing is located at the rear end of the top radiator hose. Follow the top radiator hose. It leads to the thermostat housing. There are either two or three bolts holding it in place. The bottom one can be tricky to remove. A quarter inch universal joint… with a socket might work well. Unlike many cars which have a thermostat positioned horizontally, the 1999 Sebring 2.5 V-6 has the thermostat positioned vertically. It can be very tricky to get it into proper position while replacing it and putting the housing over it. It is sometimes easier to put the thermostat into the housing, and then placing the housing in position, and then placing the three screws in as far as possible using your fingers. Also, using a small amount of thick grease to hold it in position in the housing can help. I believe there might be a tab on the thermostat that must be placed into an indent in the housing, but not sure. I have this car, and have replaced the thermostat myself. The bolts are probably 10mm. The quarter inch or three eighth inch universal joint with an extension and a standard depth socket is almost required for the bottom bolt. -Douglas (MORE)

take the air cleaner box out and the drivers side head lite outand it is under them. It is easier to access by removing the fender liner in front of thetire.
You may have to go to an auto parts store, they have mechanisms that you place between the springs to give it a small lift. If you do this, it should work with no problem.

It's difficult to explain how, given the space on this board. You need several tools, patience, and some understanding before you tackle that project. It's best to visit your library and get the Chilton automotive book on that car, copy the page (you can't take the book with you most of the time), a…nd try it. If you follow the steps, it's relatively easy. If you don't want to take on the project, get a friend that is learned in auto mechanics, OR, dare it say it? Go to a shop. Ugh! $75 an hour. You decide. (MORE)
