I was tested positive twice one MONTH after I stopped taking Librium, (benzodiazepine). I would LOVE to know what else could have caused those positive results, because I can't imagine it could still be in my system a month after my last pill. Actually, Librium has a very long half life (the amount of time it takes for half of the medication to leave your body), and its metabolites (what it is broken down into - which would be similar to a benzodiazepine in a drug test) have even longer half lives. Clinical Pharmacology sums it up: Chlordiazepoxide (Librium) has a long half-life (5-30 hours) compared with other benzodiazepines, and the half-lives of its metabolites range from 14-100 hours. The risk of accumulation is high during periods of repeated dosing. Unchanged drug and its active metabolites are excreted in the urine, but the elimination is slower than that of other benzodiazepines because the metabolites can still be present in the blood for several weeks after the initial dosing interval. In other words, it still might have been in your system. Xanas is another drug. As long as whomever is doing the testing is aware of your medical condition and any drugs prescribed by your physician there should be no problem with urine testing. These drugs aren't like steroids and nothing to do with better performance in sports.

In 72 hours cocaine can clear from the blood stream, 1-3 days for urine. However if you are a regular user, the metabolite Benzoylecgonine can be present for up to 12 weeks. Don't underestimate, the amount of time Cocaine stays in the system; Cocaine can clear in about 2-3 days. Its the metabolite (Benzoylecgonine) which stays in the system longer.
