Try unplugging the transmission with the car off.Take a short drive in it.Come back home, turn it off, then plug it up again. But first check that the shift cable didn't get out of ajustment. You will have to take it loose from the top of the transmission and look at it to actually FIGURE OUT how it is made and to adjust it.I will get you really confused trying to tell you how.Trust me,it DOES have an adjustment. The I.A.T(intake air temp) sensor could also be the problem.Sounds wierd I know, but it could be. See if the dealership service department can give you any ideals, bet they tell you the same thing I just told you. Good Luck
Check the fuse for the tail lights. Also check the bulbs.
What's wrong with my 2003 Chevy Cavalier if the check engine lights on and a friends computer said "misfire cylinder 4 "? It studders also. thanks Dawn
ets and check engine light on in 98 Chevy cavalier
Check the fuse box.
Check engine lights can come on for a number of reasons. If you didn't get the cable right or got a sparks when connecting or disconnecting that could most definitely cause problems with the check engine light or even blow the alternator fuse.
The check engine light cannot be retrieved on a 1990 Cavalier unless a problem develops with the engine. The engine can be checked for errors, though, by using a tester that is plugged into the vehicle's computer.

If the 2000 Cavalier has no lights an will not start, there is an electrical issue. Check the battery, alternator, and the wiring from the battery all the way to the starter to find the problem.
Does the speedometer work? Sounds like the electrical connector from the transmission to the PCM is either not plugged in correctly or at all.
