If the dog's eye is swollen then you need to look for redness, discharge or other signs of infection or trama. If it does not resolve in a day or two I would take the dog to the vet.

This morning my dog woke up with a severly swollen right eye. I took her to the vet and they thought is was an abcess in her mouth causing an infection that eventually spread to the eye area. They put her under anesthesia to look in her mouth and did not find any abcess. They tell me it's Retro Bulvar Cellulitus??? What exactly is this???
