With four amusement parks, two water parks, a shopping district and a number of themed hotels and resorts, it is no surprise that Disney's location in Orlando, Florida is a top vacation destination for families. For those who want to enjoy Disney, there are a number of packages aimed at saving guests money, and for Florida residents, the savings are even greater.

Why choose Disney?

Disney has something for everyone, which makes it a popular choice for families. Walt Disney World has a number of rides, like It's A Small World, that are suitable for very young children. Older children and teens can enjoy Space Mountain, Splash Mountain and other thrill rides. In addition to that, there are fantastic shows, beloved characters and a superb firework show, that are sure to entertain the whole family, and that is just one park.

Disney usually has a promotion for free, one-day admission to Walt Disney world. In 2009, Florida residents were given free admission on their birthday. In 2010, Disney's "Give a day, get a Disney day" rewarded guests across the state for volunteer work.

Discounted tickets

The discounted tickets available for Florida residents can knock off up to 40 percent for the theme parks and 50 percent for the water parks. Up to seven day tickets are available for purchase and generally expire 14 days after the first use. For an additional fee, a park-hopper option is available to allow guests to experience the other three parks. There is a six-month window to allow an upgrade of these tickets to one of the pass options.

Passes

Frequent guests may enjoy one of the park's passes for additional savings. The passes come in the following options: seasonal pass, weekday select pass, annual pass, premium annual pass and premier passport. The more expensive options do not have blackout dates, and a monthly payment plan is available for those who do not wish to pay for the pass in full.

Florida residents can take advantage of discounted tickets and passes to the Disney theme parks in Orlando. With several theme and water parks to choose from, families are sure to find something that everyone can enjoy.
