Practice in front of a mirror

You need watch your own magic trick in the same way someone else will. In many magic tricks, body positioning, hand positioning and other angles are very important. You may know how to do the technical aspects of a trick, but if your body positioning gives away the trick, it will all be for nothing.

Have a plethora of tricks in your mental library

The best magicians know how to perform a variety of tricks, and you should too. You should know how to do a few card tricks, some levitation tricks, disappearing tricks and illusion tricks. Having a variety of tricks in your mental library will keep your audience captivated.

Practice, practice, Practice

Knowledge is knowing the underlying basics and foundations of any given topic, but wisdom is the ability to apply what you know. You may know a lot about magic tricks, but if you don't practice them, you will never master them. Additionally, practice one trick at a time until you master each one. Do not practice another trick until you can perform the one you are currently practicing in your sleep.

Your mirror is your best friend. You should practice every trick, no matter the type, in front of a full-length body mirror.

Keep the drama

Magic is a show, a drama. An important element of every magic show is the drama and acting. In a way, magicians are actors who must captivate audiences with mystery and anticipation.

Learn basic physics and chemistry

Some of the most advanced tricks involve physics and chemistry. The magicians who perform these tricks must have an understanding how elements work together. For example, some tricks involve dry ice and fire. Therefore, understanding how dry ice works can greatly benefit a magician.
